About Alice

A b o u t

A keen yachtswoman and self-confessed island hopping addict, preferably by boat!

Spending summers growing up in Mallorca, Spain was idyllic for a young girl deeply, madly keen on boats. The family had a small classic teak gentleman’s launch, which was mother ship to Alice’s sailing dinghies and windsurfers. Aged 10 she competed in races at The Club de Vela in Port d’Andratx in her steadfast Optimist “Amigo” just for kicks and camaraderie.

In 1999 after a career in the London Fashion Industry with Mulberry and a year sailing in Australia, Alice joined as a crew member onboard The W-Class Racing Yachts, “White Wings” and “Wild Horses” 76-foot racing sloops. The yachts were doing a global marketing tour and participating in all of the classic yacht regattas to promote the W-Class. Alice soon took on the PR & Marketing and Regatta Management of the growing fleet of yachts and crew as she coordinated their movements around the world with her multi-lingual skills.

Together with Donald they founded The Spirit of Tradition Society and achieved enormous success in enabling modern classic yachts a recognised place within a classic yacht regatta. A Spirit of Tradition class and rating system was created for this modern hybrid allowing them to participate in vintage racing for the first time ever. It was historic!

It was during these next important years as a yacht manager that Alice honed the core skills to her regatta management trade, running (literally!) around the Mediterranean, The Caribbean and The East Coast of America and Cowes, England for The Americas Cup Jubilee. She managed and organised an owner, his five classic yachts and an endless stream of British and Antipodean Yacht guests and Crew.

In 2003 Alice managed The Spirit Yacht Mediterranean Rally for the builder Spirit Yacht Company bringing a fleet of Spirit Yachts ranging from 46 ft – 76 ft to the Mediterranean. Alice provided a package of services ranging from Logistics & Shore Support to Social Entertainment, Berthing and PR for each yacht and owner throughout the Mediterranean from Palma to The Côte d’Azur.

Alice went on to work for four years on The 2007 Americas Cup in Valencia and Trapani. Adrenalin fuelled years of marketing and selling berths at a Superyacht Marina in the epicentre of the action. The luxury marina for superyachts of 30-80 metres provided Yacht Services and entertainment for the visiting yachts during the year of the Cup and preceding Louis Vuitton Acts.

In 2008 Alice took the reigns of a small Events division at Boat International Media as Events Director, and over the next 4 years grew creation of a million pound global Superyacht events portfolio. Over the subsequent years she drove through the launch, relaunch and purchase of no less than 18 global superyacht events, many of which are thriving today.

In 2014, Alice Widdows Ltd was formed providing Event and Marketing support to luxury businesses: Yachting, Automobile; Beauty and on the strength of demand ALICE WIDDOWS REGATTA MANAGEMENT is born.
